What format are K-Type fonts?
K-Type fonts are downloaded as zipped archives, so you need to unzip or extract the font files before installing.
Fonts are supplied in 4 file formats – most people will choose the normal .ttf TrueType file, but there’s also .otf OpenType (PostScript flavoured), plus TrueType and PostScript suitcases for Mac.
So even if your requirements change, you won’t need to buy your fonts again.
How can I get free fonts?
Many K-Type fonts are supplied Free for Personal Use. These ‘Freebies’ can be downloaded at the click of a button. As long as they are not used commercially, they don’t require a licence.
How do I buy Pay Fonts?
Add Pay Fonts (with the Licence you need) to your Shopping Cart, make your payment through PayPal, and press Return to Merchant for an on-screen link to your download. You will also receive the download link via email.
Not received your download email?
Check your spam folder, or simply email givememyfont@k-type.com
What licence should I buy to use K-Type fonts commercially?
For normal business use, a K-Type Commercial Licence costs just £10 (GBP), but you may need an Enterprise Licence costing £180 (GBP) for ambitious projects or extended use. The Licence Information explains all.
Can I pay in euros or dollars?
Yes, our prices may be listed in pounds sterling (GBP), but PayPal instantly converts prices to your primary currency.
Why don’t you spell correctly?
The K-Type Foundry is based in Manchester England, so forgive us if we use British English and spell flavour and colour with an additional ‘u’, and licence with two ‘c’s when it’s a noun. It may be quirky, but it’s quaint.
How do I use the fonts?
Unzip/extract and save the font files to your computer before installing.
Put fonts in your operating system’s Fonts folder, from here they are made available to all the applications or programs you use.
WINDOWS
Put the extracted font file (.ttf or .otf) into C:\Windows\Fonts
MAC
Put the font file (Mac Truetype, Mac Postscript or .otf) into /Library/Fonts
I can’t find the character I need…
K-Type fonts are normally made with a full set of standard Latin characters. In addition, a large selection of accented characters are included, and Polish and Lithuanian accented characters are already present in many K-Type fonts. We are increasingly widening the scope of our fonts and also try to offer a more personal service than many foundries.
Please email keith@k-type.com if you require additional characters. There is usually no charge to existing customers for adding a few accented characters. Other additions, such as company logos or signatures will be chargeable.
