Brush Hand New
Brush Hand New is a full font based on a copy of Flash Bold called Brush Hand marketed by WSI in the 1990s and more recently distributed through free font sites. Brush Hand was an anonymous redrawing of Flash which simplified, slightly lightened, smoothed out ragged edges, and improved the legibility of the original classic created by Edwin W. Shaar in 1939.
Bank of England
Bank of England is loosely based on the blackletter lettering from Series F English twenty pound banknotes introduced in 2007. The font also takes inspiration from German Kanzlei (Chancery) typefaces and the 17th century London calligrapher, John Ayres.
Savor
Savor is a script-ish typeface family that oozes exotic; it’s lively and luscious, flamboyant yet dignified. Like other recent K-Types, the fonts include the new Indian Rupee sign. Savor is designed to look just as good all in capitals as it does in title or lower case, and it’s currently available in four weights – Regular, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic . The Regular is free to download for personal use.
New Old English
New Old English was prompted by two Victorian coins, the mid nineteenth century gothic crown and gothic florin, which featured a gothic script lowercase with quite modern looking, short ascenders and descenders enabling it to fit snugly around the queen’s head or heraldic motif. With thicker hairline strokes than normal Old English, a less sharp, warmer feel than lettering scripted with a pen, and circular instead of rhombic punctuation, this font is an attempt to capture the round-cornered softness of the die-struck lowercase blackletter. To increase harmony and homogeneity between the cases, the uppercase is narrower and simpler than is customary, without the excessive width or antiquated flamboyance of the traditional blackletter. It might even allow text set in capitals to look acceptable.
Frank Bellamy
An all capitals family based on the hand lettering of English artist, Frank Bellamy, most famous for his comic art for Eagle and TV21, and his Dr Who illustrations for Radio Times. The uppercase characters are the wider and heavier of the scans, and the lowercase are narrower and lighter letters. The Regular, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic are all supplied.
Blundell Sans
Blundell Sans is a type-hybrid that combines the precision and power of a sans serif with the elegance and humanism of a script. A resolutely upright font with a strong diagonal thrust.
